Today on Facebook Live 9/17/19 we made Designer Series Paper boxes. I think I will be using several of these in my upcoming events. They make great party favors and gifts.
This uses a full sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. Fold 2 sides to the middle and crease the folds. Thurn a quarter turn and fold in half. From that fold line fold up about an inch. No need to measure. Just guess. Opens the whole thing up. The tricky part is trying to describe in words how to get the next part done. With the three folds running horizontally to you fold the horizontal like up so that it meets the vertical line. Crease the diagonal line that it formed. (Really you’ve just gotta watch the video) There’s no easy way to describe this part.
I made a makeshift belly band to go around the top and close the container. You don’t have to do this part but I think it’s just a little bit different than any of the other closures I’ve seen.
This starts with a 2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock and a 2′ x 8 1/2″ piece of DSP. Score the DSP at 3 1/4″ and 5 1/4″. This forms the bottom of the box. Punch both ends with a tag top punch. Score the DSP at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″ this forms the sides of the box.Glue in place. This is not a very good container for itty bitty things. the sides don’t join at the bottom so very small things would fall through.
The tag is made from what’s left over from a 2″ x 12″ strip. It’s the perfect size for the tag base.
This container is copied from Poodles.com. Sam Hammond designed this box. It was so cute I had to copy it. These are her dimensions.
Cardstock is 10 1/2″ x 6 1/4″ score at 2 1/2″, 5″, 7 1/2″, 10″. Turn a quarter turn and score at 2 1/2″, 4 1/2, flip over and score at 5 3/4″.
Cut up to the score lines to form the bottom of the box. Glue the sides together to form the box. Pinch the top together to form the milk carton shape.
The side panel covers are 2 1/4″ x 1 3/4″ (cut 4 for the sides). Cut 2 pieces of white cardstock for the upper panels. They measure 1″ x 2 1/4″.
You can punch and tie the top together or you can just us a binder clip to close it.
